San Biagio district

Pontedecimo (GE), August 2019

The district was born in the 90s on the rubble of the ERG refinery when the owner Garrone was forced to transfer in 1988. Area reclamation and district construction featured by Coop, it was performed by Mamone family, known to DIA for their ‘Ndrangheta involvement. The strong opposition operated by a group composed by Legambiente, WWF and Verdi members, has led to a more accurate reclamation of the area; despite the supervision  the initial cost  tripled, land reclamation left the area with strong land use restriction for farming or letting children playing bare feet.
