Serpentinite stone
Genoa, August 2019
As documented several times by Società Autostrade, all the hills between Vesima and Monte Scarpino are rich in asbestos rocks. Apennines mountains and Liguria region are full of serpentinite, Ophiolite family rocks which are harmless if left in their natural stage. In case of drilling of the mountain, the risk of asbestos dispersion through the valley and consequent inhalation for the residents is high. Avoiding to take into consideration lung cancer and asbestosis, "Italian Association of Asbestos Exposed" (IAEA) declares its 2018 report that Italy has 3 deaths by mesothelioma per day.
