Pile n˚11 of the former Morandi Bridge

In mid ‘90s Società Autostrade, controlled by IRI - Institute for Industrial Reconstruction - intervened placing iron cables aside of existing prestressed concrete stays, to save the pile n˚11. The subsequent interventions to secure the two remaining stays had been postponed for 25 years. Its approval came on May 3, 2018 but work never started because the bridge collapsed on August 14, 2018.
